Ivory Coast internationals, past and present, were all available at the funeral of Tiote.


Kolo Toure, Wilfred Bony, Boubacar Barry, and Salomon Kalou were pictured among the stars that came to say farewell to their compatriot.

The funeral saw former and current teammates, current players of the Ivorian national side and other well-wishers present. The body of the dead player was flown to Abidjan where the country gathered to pay their last respects.

The Prime Minister AmadouGonCoulibaly and other top government officials were present at the funeral. Officials of the Ivorian football federation were also present at the event. Full military honours were bestowed on the star at the funeral where the coffin was covered with the national colours; orange, white and green.

Chelsea needs to replace Hazard

Former Chelsea player Salomon Kalou has stated that Chelsea needs to replace Eden Hazard if they want to challenge for trophies next season. He said that Hazard is a world-class player and that it will be difficult for Chelsea to find a like for like replacement for the Belgium international.

He said that not only they will have to replace their best player they will also need to find a new manager after the departure of Sarri.

Salomon Kalou said that it is important that an appointment is made as quickly as possible so that the manager can have enough time to build a team to compete in the Premier League. The former Chelsea player that Chelsea runs the risk of falling behind teams such as Tottenham Hotspurs, Manchester United and even Arsenal if they do not invest in new players.

He believes that at the moment there is not a single player that can replace Eden Hazard and that they will have to use this money wisely in order to strengthen the team.

There are rumors that Frank Lampard will be the one that will manage Chelsea next season. Salomon Kalou said that Lampard is a really good person as a player but he still has to prove himself at the highest level. He said that there are plenty of rebuilding to be done at Chelsea and it is important that you have an experienced manager in this situation.

He said that the Chelsea team is really behind teams such as Liverpool and Manchester City and that they will need more than one transfer window if they want to catch up these teams in terms of development. For him, it is important that a manager is appointed as quickly as possible to help the team progress.

Salomon Kalou Remains Focused and Ambitious Even at 32, Claims Hertha Berlin Coach

Hertha Berlin winger Salomon Kalou says that he is still extremely ambitious despite being 32 years of age.


The former Ivory Coast international and Chelsea forward says that he may have gone through different phases of his career over the last few years, but he has finally found a settled place in the form of Hertha Berlin. Manager Pal Dardai recently claimed that the player was looking to have another strong season with the German outfit. Last season, he came up with figures of seven goals and four assists in 26 appearances in the league. This happens to be one of his best seasons overall, although his first campaign with Hertha Berlin saw him score 14 and create two in just 32 league matches.

Dardai says that he has seen exceptional quality and workrate from the 32-year-old, who is still looking to face some of the biggest teams in the business. CAN PULISIC WIN HIS PLACE IN THE TEAM

The curious case of Christian Pulisic has dominated the news as the well sought after forward has been relegated to a bit-part role since making his big-money move from Dortmund. The forward was expected to play a big role under Frank Lampard but appears not to convince the Blues Legend of his qualities.

Pulisic is known for his pace, dribbling, and ability to score goals but this has not been shown since making his move this summer. His case is similar to that of Salomon Kalou who played for the club about a decade ago.

SALOMON KALOU: LILLE CAREER EXAMINED

Ivorian forward Salomon Kaloujoined Lille from Premier League heavyweights Chelsea on a free transfer in July 2012. His last act as a Chelsea player was winning the Champions League via the penalty shootout success at the expense of host team Bayern Munich.

Salomon Kalou became a free agent in the summer of 2012 after his Chelsea contract ended. The Ivorian attacker became a Lille player afterwards and he was handed the number 8 jersey. New Lille manager Rudi Garcia confirmed that it was not easy to convince that the French club is team to take his career to the next level. It was not easy to convince Kalou to join him at Lille according to the former AS Roma tactician.

Salomon Kalou Happy with Point against Bayern Munich

Salomon Kalou claims that his Hertha Berlin team could have done slightly better in the match against Bayern Munich, despite coming away with a 2-2 draw against the defending champions.


Hertha Berlin came into the game on the back of a strong start to the season, but they were not expected to get much out of this match considering that Bayern Munich are extremely strong. However, the Allianz Arena recently witnessed a major change with manager Carlo Ancelotti departing after a poor run of results. Bayern’s confidence was low after the recent 3-0 loss against PSG and Hertha Berlin were able to take full advantage of this situation.

Bayern made an excellent start of the game and were leading quite comfortably by the 50th minute through goals from Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski.Duda pulled one back for the home team but the crucial goal came from former Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou who came in with the equaliser in the 56th minute. This was the second goal in the last three matches for the former Chelsea forward, who has been playing with Hertha Berlin for the last four seasons. Serbia May Reach the Top 16: Southgate

Gareth Southgate is the manager of the England football team. He believes that there won’t be much difference between the qualifying teams. There are eight to ten teams who are majorly in the structure for winning the Euro 2020. One of the favorites this year will be The Three Lions as always after they reached the semi-finals of the World Cup last year. Even though they will be playing against Croatia, the team which was responsible for knocking them out in Group D. Czech Republic is also in the same group. One more team from the playoffs among Serbia, Norway, Scotland, and Israel will join the previous teams of Group D.

As this tournament is spread over 12 countries, England will be in an advantageous position as they will play all their group games in Wembley. In fact, they will also play their semi-final and final games at the same place, only if they advance to those levels. Southgate was a part of the England squad of 96 that reached the semis. When asked about that time, he said that they have played against both the teams before and playing at Wembley always gives them a special feeling to them. He added that England has an idea about the quality of the midfielders that Croatia has. They have a fixture that is at a top-level.

Kalou picks his ‘5-a-side dream’ team

Former Chelsea winger Salomon Kalou has picked three of his former Blues teammates in his ‘dream’ 5-a-side team. The Hertha Bertin forward won the Premier League and Champions League during his six-year spell with the west London giants, and his squad consisted of the likes of David Luiz, Petr Cech and compatriot Didier Drogba, who were key to the 2012 Champions League success.

The experienced forward also picked countrymen Yaya Toure and Gervinho – both of whom are still plying their trades with Manchester City and Heben China Fortune. In an exclusive with 90min, he said: “I’m going to say Yaya Toure, and obviously Didier [Drogba]. I have to put Gervinho for sure…and David Luiz, because I need a defender! AJAX ACE REJECTED BARCELONA MOVE IN JANUARY

Ajax attacker Dusan Tadic was a subject of transfer from Barcelona during the winter transfer window. Barcelona were said to be keen on taking the player to Camp Nou on loan till the end of the season, as cover for the injured Luiz Suarez.

According to De Telegraaf chief, Valentijn Driessen, he said the 31-year-old Serbia international wanted the move as he knew that will probably be his last and only chance to represent the Camp Nou giants, he also stated he doesn’t expect Barcelona to make a follow-up move for the player in the summer.

Olivier Giroud explains key reason behind Chelsea move

Olivier Giroud has admitted that he took the opportunity to join Chelsea from rivals Arsenal after holding a brief communication with manager Antonio Conte. The France international was initially tipped to join Borussia Dortmund in a deal involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but he ended up inking an 18-month with the Premier League holders.

As a result, Michy Batshuayi was permitted to join Dortmund on loan to complete a transfer merry-go-round between three clubs, and Giroud is obviously content to have joined a massive club, where he is hoping to achieve further success in the backend of his career.
