Former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou has stated that he might consider ending his international career and focus on his club football.
He said that he is now 30-years old and that he must take care of his body. He stated that it is difficult to play for both club and country and that he will make to take a decision sooner or later.
So far Salomon Kalou has made 83 appearances for his country Ivory Coast and has managed to score 28 goals during the process. He said that although at the moment he feels great he knows that he will not be able to maintain this rhythm for a long time and that he will have to choose between his club or his country.
He said that he has played in two World Cups so far in his career and that he has already won the Africa Cup of Nations. He believes that it is time for him to take a break from international football and give the opportunity to younger players to shine. This will allow him time to concentrate on his club football.
Salomon Kalou currently plays for Hertha Berlin in Germany and said that he wants to give his best in order to help his club win trophies. He has joined the Bundesliga side in 2014 from Chelsea and so far has played 65 matches for them. He has scored 23 goals in the process.
He admitted that he had a hard time adapting to life in the Bundesliga where he only managed to score 6 goals in 29 appearances. However things have improved for him, and he has found his scoring touch again. Indeed he has managed 17 goals this season and wants to improve this tally next season.
