Ajax attacker Dusan Tadic was a subject of transfer from Barcelona during the winter transfer window. Barcelona were said to be keen on taking the player to Camp Nou on loan till the end of the season, as cover for the injured Luiz Suarez.
According to De Telegraaf chief, Valentijn Driessen, he said the 31-year-old Serbia international wanted the move as he knew that will probably be his last and only chance to represent the Camp Nou giants, he also stated he doesn’t expect Barcelona to make a follow-up move for the player in the summer.
Tadic who signed a new long term deal with Amsterdam giant last summer was said to be keen on the move, but the club rejected the offer from Barcelona.
Ajax have been hit hard with injuries this season, as David Neres, Hakim Ziyech and Deley Blind have all suffered from fitness issues.
Like Ajax, Barcelona have been unlucky too with injury to first-team players, it was reported that Ousmane Dembele will be out of action for the rest of the season after undergoing operation to correct his knees.
He will not be part of the French squad for Euro 2020. Alongside Dembele, Luis Suarez is also out, but he is expected to make a return for the last four league matches of the season, and should Barca make it far in the champions league
He will be available for the semi final of the competition, but Barca needs to navigate the round of 16 against Napoli and the Quarter final without the Uruguayan international.
The deal to bring the Serbia international to Camp Nou would have been a major boost for head coach, Setien, who has relied heavily on the brilliance of Lionel Messi and La Masia graduate, Ansu Fati in the attacking third.
