Arta Solar 7 arethe Djibouti champions after winning the league title in the small African country for the first time in four decades.

The Djibouti champions have some veteran African players in their ranks including former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alexandre Song. They also have former Cameroonian players DanyNounkeu and shot stopper Idris Carlos Kameni in their team.

Arta Solar 7 are the kings of club football in Djibouti but they are yet to extend that dominance to continental football after they were thrashed by Arab Contractors of Egypt in the CAF ConfederationCup. The Djibouti champions were on the receiving end of a 10-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of their Egyptian opponents in the preliminary round of the Confederation Cup.

The Djibouti champions would be hoping that the recent signings of Salomon Kalou and DiafraSakho can raise the quality of the team in future continental football. They are set to compete in the CAF Champions League next season after winning the league.

While Kalou was released by Botafogo earlier this year, Sakho has not played for any club since leaving Swiss team Neuchatel Xamax in April 2020.

Senegalese striker Sakho is mostly remembered for his West Ham United spell between 2014 and 2018 before he left to join French team Rennes in a €10m deal.
