Salomon Calou Is on the Move

 

According to Caf Online, Djibouti champions AS Arta Solar 7 have signed ex-Ivory Coast attacker Salomon Kalou. After his contract with Botafogo, a team in Brazil came to an end in 2021, the 36-year-old is now free to sign elsewhere. The East African club is building up its team in hopes of competing in the Caf Champions League next year. They lost to Tusker, a team in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, in the first qualifying round of the season.


Kalou will join Alexandre Song, a former midfielder for Barcelona and Arsenal, Diafra Sakho, Alain Traore, Dany Nounkeu, and former Cameroon goalkeeper Idriss Carlos Kameni at Arta Solar. In the recently concluded 2021/22 season, Arta Solar successfully defended the league title and won the domestic cup. Particularly in continental matches, Kalou is anticipated to contribute a great deal of experience to the team. The attacker has played for Feyenoord and Excelsior in the Netherlands, Chelsea in the Premier League, Lille in France, and Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga in Germany.

His most successful period was during his time with Chelsea, where he won the Premier League in 2009/10. Additionally, in 2006/07, 2008/09, 2009/10, and 2011/12, he won four FA Cup titles. Kalou was a key player in the Blues’ victory in the FA Community Shield in 2009, and he was also a part of the team that won the Uefa Champions League in 2011/12.

Kalou won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, which was held in Equatorial Guinea, on the international stage. The match was decided in a shootout, which the Elephants won 9-8 after Ghana and the Elephants played to a goalless draw in regulation and extra time. Kalou is the younger brother of Bonaventure Kalou, a former attacking midfielder for Ivory Coast.
