SALOMON KALOU WORRIED ABOUT KANTE’S CONTINUED INJURIES

After the long-term absence of N’Golo Kante was confirmed by Chelsea last Tuesday ahead of their clash with Brentford, with the Frenchman needing surgery on his hamstring, it throws a spanner in the works of Chelsea’s midfield options for the season, and beyond. It also means that Kante will miss France’s 2022 World Cup campaign, a bitter blow for him personally.

Since Chelsea signed Kante from Leicester after the Foxes’ 2016 title win, the Frenchman quickly established himself as one of the best central midfielders on the planet, playing a key role in helping Chelsea to domestic glory the following year, in which he was named “2017 Footballer of the Year” by the Football Writers’ Association, before winning the FA Cup in 2018 and the Europa League in 2019. He played an average of 3,077 minutes per season for Chelsea in the Premier League in his first three seasons at the club, making 105 league appearances by the end of the 2018/19 season. KALOU WANTS CHELSEA TO BEAT UNITED IN APPOINTING PSG FOOTBALL DIRECTOR

According to the Mirror, Chelsea are ahead of rivals Manchester United in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Campos. They are also acting on that interest by offering a huge deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge. The Blues are in a period of transition under the new American ownership. They sacked manager Thomas Tuchel last week, replacing him with Graham Potter. The club also has a vacant spot in the sporting director/advisor role as well. Co-owner Todd Boehly had to work as an interim sporting director in the summer.

The owners are now aiming to appoint a new sporting director ahead of the winter World Cup. Campos is one of the leading candidates to take up this role. As per French outlet Le Parisien (h/t Mirror), Chelsea are willing to pay €8m to get the Portuguese with an enormous money bank of €300m to build a squad suited to the Potter’s style of play.         PREDICTED CHELSEA LINEUP AGAINST EVERTON AS KALOU FORESEES BLUES WIN

Chelsea will begin their 2022/23 Premier League campaign with an away trip to Goodison Park as they face Frank Lampard’s Everton side on Saturday evening. Heading into the game, manager Thomas Tuchel does not have any major injury concerns, although exit-linked striker Timo Werner is a doubt due to a thigh issue.

Youngster Armando Broja is also a slight doubt due to an ankle problem he picked up in pre-season, although the Albanian international is expected to be available against Everton. New signings Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella might not be involved, though, given they have hardly had any time to train with their new teammates.                      CHELSEA READY OFFER TO SIGN SEVILLA DEFENDER JULES KOUNDE

According to Marco Conterio, Chelsea are preparing an official bid worth €60 million for Jules Kounde after being pushed back in the pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt. The French international has been on the Blues’ radar for over twelve months, and a move could finally materialise. Chelsea’s search for a solid central defender has become complicated on many fronts. Thomas Tuchel desperately needs new members in the defensive unit after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers to Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.

Tuchel wants a player who could balance the equation at the heart of the Chelsea defence, as he cannot go into the season with his current options. The German manager has chased Kounde as his primary target for over a year, and Chelsea could return to Sevilla with an offer. After much deliberation, the Blues started the summer transfer window by enquiring about Kounde before switching their attention towards Juventus’s Matthijs de Ligt. The turn of focus occurred after Chelsea were unwilling to match Sevilla’s asking price for the Frenchman and the fact that Barcelona emerged as favourites to sign him.
