Salomon Kalou is one of the many African players to be shortlisted for the African player of the year award. A trio of Premier League strikers have been shortlisted for the 2010 African Player of the Year Award with the 2009 winner Didier Drogba joined by Chelsea and Ivory Coast team-mate Salomon Kalou and Sunderland and Ghana forward Asamoah Gyan.
The two other players to make the list are Inter’s Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o who has won the award three times before as well as Barcelona and Mali midfielder Seydou Keita.
National coaches from 53 African countries affiliated to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will vote for the winner, who will be announced at an awards ceremony in Egypt on December 20.
